I can't remember the number of Guns in the USA...there is no way that everyone would comply.  I am sure the folks living in the Outback of Australia did not turn in many/most of their weapons...maybe there was a provision for them...no way the police would get there for hours or days.

When I spent some time in Northern Nevada, a town with population of 28...if someone died or was shot or murdered it was anywhere from a half day to a day and a half before law enforcement normally got there...due to distance, accessibility and limited number of law enforcement.

I think many of us believe that if guns are taken from legal owner's then we are easy prey for criminals that don't care about the laws...old argument that holds a lot of water.

Until criminals that use guns are truly removed from society the idea of confiscation is absurd...and we all know that guns will never get out of the hands of criminals.

I am sure it would be a mass war in many areas when the Gov't came to take private citizens guns in this country...Civil War I believe...one big Waco all over the country.

...the black market for guns and ammo would go through the roof and be coming in from Mexico or Latin America like drugs come in today.

I think we will see things become tougher with ammo and that restrictions and availability of it will be an issue that keeps on creeping up...still can't get over a brick of 22LR is around $40-$50 a brick here.

They can't. The entire federal government simply does not have the money, or manpower to physically confiscate every gun in the US. That's even if every gun owner peacefully complied. They would need a voluntary turn in program or something else.

DD...sarcasm here...you mean the gov't might pass a law that they can't enforce?  Sorry...I couldn't resist.

If it happened I guarantee there would be a reward system in place to turn in your neighbors that you know has not complied.
