1911'er here. havent used a glock since i was on the job but this shouldnt matter for the sake of this discussion
used several of the above mentioned including some handloads.....settled on buffalo bore and i'm happy with the consistency and quality (have disassembled several production loads)
i can't recommend ball....seen them go through and through to many times. later, when working as a ff/medic i can tell you we never failed to get a victim shot with ball to the ER alive (several different calibers)
never liked hydro shock either (was in my duty weapon in 9mm). failed to adequately expand several times for several of us. after too many complaints the dept changed it to gold dots
And the monkey presses the button.
I would say this. You will never get a person to tell you Speer Gold Dots are not more than sufficient. They are universally accepted as a great SD round in every caliber they are available in. At least not that I have ever heard or read about.
In my .380 I use Gold Dots. If I had a 9mm or a .45, I would put them in there too.
But in the end, it doesnt matter. You have a .45 man. I think you can get to a point of splitting hairs in what's the best SD ammo for a handgun caliber like that. Put anything in there and its probably going to do the job.
