It's one I'm kind of on the bubble about. It's already really easy to get your permit here. I like the thought that if someone is going to carry, they've at least had a minimum level of training (don't point the gun at anything you're not going to shoot, here's how to work the safety, be aware of what's behind your target etc.). I'm the type of person who seeks out training on my own, I have a ccw mechanics class I'm taking this weekend in fact. I like to keep my skill set fresh and oiled and know my training will be there when I need it to be. Not everyone has this mindset though. there are many out there, even here in appalachia where guns are the rule rather than the exception, who don't train. Some who might go buy a gun and carry, but have never even taken it to the range.

I'm torn because I really believe that the 2nd amendment should be your carry permit. The problem is that unlike 60 years ago, guns have been demonized and become almost a taboo for some people. I have friends of mine who don't know I carry. I don't tell them because they would immediately change their opinion of who I am as a person. This kind of attitude makes things more dangerous than it would be if you simply taught your kids about firearms from the word go, because someone who might naturally be interested could fail to get themselves familiar with the safety and operation protocols of carrying, and simply buy a gun and stick in their belt when they go out.

Like I said, I have mixed feelings about it.

That's pretty much everything I've read about everywhere that has something like this. Maybe I should just stop second guessing liberty lol.
