Hello everyone,

I actually found out about this forum when I saw the pintrest post on making your own bacon. Which can I say looks AMAZING!

Anyways I am currently living in Downtown Los Angeles, CA. Me and my fiance are making plans to move to high desert land either in Socal or New Mexico. I am kind of rooting for NM but we will see what we can find. Ideally I am looking for 5-10 acres.

We plan to implement off grid living with: solar, greywater & rainwater, Aquaponics, windpower, biofuels, earthbag building, sustainable gardening for both family and animals.

We hope to raise: Japanese Quail, rabbits, alpaca, sheep, goats, mini cattle (meat and dairy), pigs, worms, tilapia, maybe ducks and chickens, and have a few horses and dogs.

We are toying with the idea of a bead and Breakfast.... but I am a little worried about inviting in the world when it seems like so many people are being persecuted for the off grid life style.

I am also going to start studies on natural medicine for both animals and people. I have been doing some research of my own and implementing it in my own life but I want to learn more.

I am really happy I found this forum and I look forward to talking with all of you.

Feel free to message me at any time!

Catherine

sounds like a outstanding goal Catherine, welcome to the site. Spotted horses would be a great resource for natural medicine for animals. She has built a income around it.

Hi! Great plans. We've thought about the prospect of guest cabins, although for me it's more of an excuse to try every type of natural building incl. earth ships and straw bale in building said "cabins". I've had the same concern about inviting the world in though. And I like quiet.

Yeah, that is my problem as well. I like the quite. Also with inviting in the world you invite in notice from those who are against you...like the government. Maybe not so much for you in Canada but for us here in the US.

it is a hard decision, it is something my wife and I talked about quite a lot before starting this site.
