I just found this site and read a couple of articles. I especially liked the article about the best place to start a self sufficient life. I will use the method but then for one of the countries in Europe (nope, not going to stay here).

For now I am just doing some small space gardening, canning, dehydrating a lot of food, have some chickens, a trained malinois and trying to learn all kind of old skills ( I bought an old weaving loom for only 20 euros the other day on a flea market).

Hope I can join the discussions soon!

Thank you for your welcome.

Our journeys in homesteading will be different because of the cultural, political and social and climate differences. But the end goal is the same :)

@Greenup yeah they are great dogs, very obedient, quick learners and have no fear, protect their boss with their own life. My dog loves to work so we did bite work and she totally loves it. Unfortunately we had to quit that field of work so we are now mostly doing other http://thehomesteadi.....mobedience training together.

i hope I don't come across like an aggression loving person :S but here are some videos about the malinois:

feature=kp

this is the father of my dog (she is female though):

I did IPO work, not KNVP work. But that was also a good training for a 'house dog'. I wanted to know how to train dogs as protection dogs so when I am in the middle of nowhere I have some protection. It is not likely I can win from a male intruder. But with the help of the dog :)

What do IPO and KNVP stand for?

Perhaps you can share what you know about protection training. I know I am interested and I am sure others would be too.

 of course I would like to share what I know, but it is a lot of practice and LOT's of hours as well, but it is so much fun. If you have any question please ask.

I have a question @xdewit , how do you personally feel about weapons being forbidden, I don't want to start a debate and it is not the reason for asking, just truly curious what your thoughts are
