Hello Everyone,

We are a family of six, living on rented house on a farmers lot were surrounded by about 400 acres of which we have maybe 4 which includes our home, 6 barns, a storage shed (turned into a chicken coop) and a abandoned house from the 1890's.

Currently we have chickens, pigs, and turkeys. We have paid for a hive and are looking for a dairy cow.

Our goal is to buy around 10 acres or so in the future where id like to build a large A-frame house and create our own off the grid homestead.

Ive already read through a good deal of the content on this site and I feel like im going to learn, what im looking for on here.

As do I. I originally wanted to build the standard log cabin from scratch but do to the lack of good sized timber in the area settled on the idea of an A-frame design built on large concrete piers with a metal roof and large over hangs to protect the structure. my goal is to build a home to be passed down for the next 200 years. My goals are pretty simple Solar energy, wood heat, sustainable living at a low cost so I can spend more time living and less time working.

Neither does mine, but after 10 years of being a stay at home mom to our 4 kids, shes finally starting to see the light behind a simpler life and agrees that as long as she can have a few creature comforts she fine with the A frame.

About a year ago now I sold my bar business to a man so I could quit putting in 80 hours a week of that and spend more time at home just recently (last week) the man I had a Land contract on the building with and the man I sold the business too teamed up and managed to screw me out of the business and the building at the same time.Turns out they had been working on this plan since Nov of last year. Essentially the deal was he started paying the land contract with one check and paying me with another all organized by our attorneys. So all of a sudden I get a notice of eviction? and didn't find out until the discovery 3 days before court that they worked it out to where there hadn't been a payment made on the building since December and I was evicted. He is also re assigning the building to the guy I sold the bar to. The guy with the bar managed to save 144K in payments he owed to me and I lost over 100k on the building plus the income after it was paid off. which he is now reselling to the bar guy for more than I was paying... And I was just informed Thursday that they plan to keep all my assets inside the building aswell (more court time this week to dispute that).. This building and business were my retirement plan and I was successfully screwed out of it. The building would have gave me a income of over 2.5k per month after it was paid off and the business was a 1200 dollar a month income for the next 9 years which is now gone... Its a a sad sad day when something like this can happen. Im filing counter claims but im not hopeful for the outcome..

Simply put ive had enough of the rat race, and I want to to just get away and take care of what matters. And I want to find a way to live without that income, at this point starting over just isnt a option, so we need to close the gap. We have had a small "homestead" for a while but im ready to find a way to make it into a lifes project that I can hand down to my children.

Damn, I own a small restaurant and I don't know how I would handle that situation, what does your lawyer say about it?

Speaking of A-frames, I always loved this one

this is not the interior but I always wanted a central catwalk with a room on each end and a spiral staircase going up to the catwalk

Aframetech has an interesting kit
