Hey guys, My name is Josh. I currently live in the foothills of NC. Have always loved the thought of living off grid and homesteading, whether it be in a tight knit community like an ecovilliage or on my own. I have found the problems Im running into is I have knowledge of the lifestyle and how to survive and I also have lots of experience in construction, just no funds to make it a reality. Not to mention that alot of the ecovilliages want you to be a part but only if you have a pretty hefty sum for start up. Any way thats me. love to hear back from anyone .

welcome @savagebeard0 , it does seem to take a lot of money to live a simple life and be "poor" doesn't it. Do you do construction for work?

I did for 6 years. Started and finished a 100 acre solar farm as my last job. Quit to go back to school to get my contractors license. Yeh it's pretty sad that you can't live simple anymore without being rich

Agreed, takes either a lot of time or a lot of money, time to learn skills, acquire the basics and develop a property or money to just buy everything you need.
