Market research and indigenous polling in frontier countries. Basically we hire & train local people all over the world to perform polls, compile the results and do some analytics with the data. Where I live, it seems to be a pretty good niche, and we're getting opportunities with some big NGO's and government projects. It's no .com moneymaker, but it's fulfilling work, and helping to find the truth about an issue instead of relying on the media is pretty fascinating and satisfying.Would you be interested in coming to WV and start some polling about fracking? The Company sales pitch is overwhelming!
I'd be happy to do any kind of polling, but need a paying customer to do it. Being a new business, the cash reserve to do projects pro-bono is non-existent. We're still in a bit of a paycheck to paycheck mode right now.
I'd be happy to talk to you about it though. PM me if interested

We do it a few different ways. The easiest and quickest is to use surveymonkey and a contact list. For the international, hard to reach places, yes we do door to door. We can do cell phone surveys and call center stuff, but there's usually an agency we would hire to do that type of data collection.
Ideally, we hire locals, train them to perform the surveys using specific techniques to make the results truly random. If it's a local language speaker who dresses and behaves like a local, the results tend to be more honest and accurate. Picture a local kid with a clipboard knocking on every 4th door in a neighborhood v/s a buffed out guy with tats, a crew-cut and an armed escort trying to do the same thing. The presentation of the survey has a lot to do with how the results come out.
Designing the survey questions is a big part of what we do too. It's very important to get that part of it right.

Hey everyone - Greetings from Kentucky! Found your site from a teaser on FB. Skimmed through some of the forums and replied to a couple, but really beginning my journey towards homesteading and off grid living. Still keeping up appearances in town for now until i can boot the kiddos off to college Recently purchased a small place in Southern KY and have already made a couple improvements (Barn-like structure, Outhouse...) Looking forward to reading and learning from the group here.
