ok, so I just want to start off and say hello! I was born and raised in Fairbanks Alaska, but currently live in Cda Idaho! I am fifteen years old, and am a future homesteader! For awhile, I thought I would live in a van! But, being a Prepper, I thought about homesteading! When I turn sixteen, I will officially drop out of high-school (even though I skip it everyday) I am anti-School, but Pro-Education! But, as the title says, welcome, to my life!!!

Welcome aboard Chance!! When I was your age, I wasn't much on school, but I did graduate. Looking back on it, it was one of the best times of my life, and wish I had it to do over again so I could make the most of it. And a HUGE regret I have is not going to college. In this day and age, I strongly RECOMMEND you graduate. Many places want a college degree and hiring a drop-out is out of the question. Being a drop out, it's going incredibly hard to make a decent life for yourself. Others have done it, but they are the exception to the rule and were raised in a different time. You have 2-3 years left. It's light at the end of the tunnel. Make the most of it, and you'll be done before you know it.

Back when I was in middle school, my mom was a bar maid. There was a recent graduate that my mom worked with (he was a bar back) and was friends with who would sometimes "watch" me. I was already not really fond of school and he told me over and over again "You'll miss it. I was just like you and now I realize how great it was." Of course I told him how wrong he was and of course he wasn't.
My school experience left a lot to be desired overall. I was bullied, didn't have many friends, and girls were a pipe dream. And I would give just about anything to be able to go back and do it again.

Do you do any type of online testing at all? Not judging you, just curious.
I homeschooled my two daughters through high school. Actually they got their GEDs at 16 which was the youngest you could do it at the time. They both went to college. One loved it, the other hated it. Autumn who loved it, completed a four year program and graduated suma cum laudi. Leila who hated it found an alternative program in midwifery.
During our homeschooling time they never took tests. They used portfolios at the end of each year.
within Dominant culture and business it is near impossible to get a decent job without the "proper papers".
But it is possible to make a very good living doing things you love. You have to be prepared to work very very hard! I have been self employed since I was fourteen years old. I have always worked very hard but I feel rewarded every day. As my interests change, my way of making a living changes.
im not saying that dropping out of school is the right thing to do. I am however saying that a very good life can be had without standard American education. I know a number of people with masters degrees who can't find any work in their field and they are saddled with huge student loans.
