I also advocate trade school. Practical work experience without all that massive debt from college. Pick a good trade like welding or auto mechanic, and not only will you have a good income stream for life, but most things you can learn at a Trade School will transfer well over to homesteading!

I hear diesel mechanic is also a good trade to get into.
