Did you start out with a mixed class or everyone on the same level? I got peer-pressured into going with a friend and showed up to work the next day literally black in some places. Apparently you're supposed to tap out. I have a problem of sitting in a hold and trying to think my way out of it.
I'm thinking of signing back up while we're posted in Brazil.

There is a beginners class and advanced class, White belts with stripes and above take the advanced class. I asked my instructor if I should turn in my blue belt and start back with a white since it has been so long, he said no, I earned the blue.
Class started with 10 different people in stations on the mat, most were black belts and we just rotated through them for 5 minutes of rolling, so my first night back I had 40 minutes of live sparring. Unfortunately I injured the rib on the first roll, the next seven were painful. Luckily tonight is town meeting so I will have a week to heal till next monday's class.
We followed up with about 30 minutes of instruction going over some different chokes.
Good thing is my instructor became an officer several years ago and is the sgt for a local department, so he knows what my focus and goals are.

I thought you had started back!
I did a couple years ago VERY briefly. My wife HATES me doing BJJ for some reason. I was unemplyeed/stay at home dad and came up with the bright idea I would do it during the day, while she was at work on the down low. No fuss, no muss. I figured after 6 months to a year I could show her that there were no negatives, etc. and it would be a win win. Well after a class or two, I thought it through and started to feel funny about keeping something from her and figured no good would come from it and stopped. Also, I have some pretty serious neck issues and it's really not worth it, although I REALLY miss it.
