well, I ended up going with the galaxy s5, I stopped by the verizon store and they checked our data usage and it was actually below what is included in our family plan, so it looks like the unlimited data wasn't that big of a need,  my line was able to upgrade since I had it for over 2 years, so for 100 bucks, I was able to get the galaxy, and this thing is awesome, my old phone was suppose to be 4g, but it seemed like I only got that 20 percent of the time, everything else was 3g, this thing hasn't dropped 4g all day

Yeah ST will let you bring your own phone, even if it was with another carrier.  Mine is meant to be on AT&T's GoPhone.  I just tossed their SIM and popped in my own.  BAM, worked immediately.

I hear good things about those Galaxy phones.

Im more of an entry level, cheap plan and phone kind of guy.  Based on my experience, you just cant find a quality Android phone.  You have to subsidize it with a major carrier or pay the $300+ price tag for a premium phone.  iPhone is well....iPhone, they aint cheap.

Im nearing a week in with this Windows phone and I like it.  The app store is a bit light.  But its got your major apps (Pandora, various mail/chat services, the usual big name stuff).  But I did have a Reddit app that would totally drain the battery.  From what I have read, many apps do that on WP.  So that kind of sucks.  However IE on the phone displays mobile sites quite nicely.  For my needs, that's just fine with me.  I could always buy another battery as well.  They are like $5 on Amazon.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the Galaxy.  Get yourself a Chromecast now.  They work really well with Android stuff.  My Nexus 7 is basically a TV remote with the Chromecast installed in the back of my TV.  It was $35.

The Chromecast will work with any Android device and the Chrome browser in any PC.

pretty happy with the samsung so far, only thing I don't like is the charger, it has this little flip top and it's a two prong slot plug in, I know I'm going to snap that thing off with my catcher mitt sized hands
