The real meat of the issue is where you have a major illness in the last few years of your life that we run into trouble. Cancer? Alzheimers? Dementia? Lou Gherig's disease? Now you have a real problem, because you can't just go to the doctor for these things.
I think that Doctor Assisted Suicide should be an option for people, I already told my wife that if I get diagnosed with something like these later in life that I will just go for a long walk in the woods, I won't put her through the emotional or financial ruin that I saw my grandmother went through watching my grandfather waste away in a nursing home for 5 years.
I agree with Dr assisted suicide. One thing, if you are home and have a bad accident or major cardiac event...you might want to hold off calling 911...once the medical people get involved it's a mess to pull the plug...If I am extensively injured...just let me go, call 911 once I am gone...no ventilator please.
As for end of life issues...when is enough enough? I used to assist with monthly narcotic destruction, it was nothing to destroy 2 or 3 tables piled high with all kind of controlled medications...literally tens and tens of thousands of dollars worth (street value much higher)...all of those meds were paid for by Medicare/Medicaid---a.k.a. Tax Dollars!---and it happens all over the country all the time...like throwing money down the toilet...only the Pharmaceutical companies making out...the waste in the system is ridiculous...and only going to get worse as our population continues to age. It doesn't make sense (IMO) to do open heart surgery on a 90 some year old with lung disease...or any other number of similar things.
With all the waste and multiple payers and the 'I deserve it' mentality out there it's no wonder things are a mess and money is going down the drain left and right.
Realistic and practical thought is out the window now a days.
...and Long Term Care / Nursing Homes...a joke in most places.

I bet the bigger issue is from the clinton side, what did she win, 6 coin flips in a row?
Yeah, but Sanders has been busted cheating already too. Didn't they exploit the DNC server to gain an unfair advantage before Iowa? I'm calling shenanigans on the whole thing. Republican and Democrat
