Since yesterday was a cold dreary day we fired up the wood stove and not wanting the heat go to waste I went and picked up a roast to make poor man’s surf and turf.

I chopped up some taters

Image

and added my secret ingredient

Image

That’s right, cheap Italian dressing, so I poured that over the meat

Image

and added some peppers and onions

Image

and grabbed my secret ingredient number 2, beer

Image

so I poured that over the roast and threw it into the woodstove. Now what goes best with roast? Horseradish of course. So I went and grabbed my shovel.

There’s a nice piece of root

Image

so I took it into the house

Image

and washed it off

Image

I peeled off the outer layer

Image

and grated it up

Image

I added a little vinegar and stirred it up and stuck it into the fridge

Image

I checked on the roast, it was looking good

Image

So I grabbed some shrimp

Image

and dusted them with old bay seasoning

Image

and cut up a stick of unsalted butter

Image

I grabbed two lemons and squeezed them over the shrimp

Image

and threw two halves into the pan

Image

I set the shrimp into the oven and waited

Image

My wife wanted some cocktail sauce so I stirred some of the fresh horseradish and ketchup together

Image

about 20 minutes later the shrimp was done

let’s eat!
