Actually suggested that, she was not digging that

The Maine Winter in the middle of the night may change her mind.

Is your house on city sewage or on septic? Is running pipe and a tie-in an option? You could collect rainwater to fill the flush tank.

We are on town sewer, but it's part of the reason we built the 3 foot ledge pad so that the house sat high enough to properly pitch to the main line. The way the shop sits down and back from the pad it would be impossible to tie into it unless we used a lift pump.

time to get this floor knocked out

got everything cleaned up and swept out

just enough underlayment to finish the job

started at the stairs and worked my way back, this part was time consuming because almost every row had a cut in it

I always use a scrap piece of wood to check for proper gap as I go along

finally finished

I picked up the 1x10 and got it ripped down, stained up and started trimming out the stairwell

added a piece of trim under the floor ends

just need to nail down some trim I stained up last night and stain the stairs and we are done

Here's your chance to use a ram pump! Kidding. That would be gross.

stained up the baseboard on the old section and got that nailed down

got the stairwell opening framed out, had to do a little notching

was trying different ways to cover the transition from the old to the new, the old pine was slightly higher than the drywall, luckily I don't throw anything away until the job is done and I had a thin pine ripping that worked perfect butted up against a 1x4

which worked for filling in a little triangle piece to tie the baseboard and stairwell together

finished wrapping the new side of the stairwell

went to grab my palm sander to sand the stairs and stain them and couldn't find it anywhere, I think it is in our old garage, so I got to search and destroy for it this morning and wrap this thing up.
