we decided to add a light sensor to the outside lights, that way if they are left on they shut off in the morning, we just wired in through the back side of the panel and into the power feed for the lights
Time to start knocking out the workshop, seems the chickens have been hanging out in it way too much
went and got some 4 foot lights
much better, I can see!
got everything organized and swept up
think I am going to rip down the boards from the old coop and pig pen and use them to build a workbench
Still working on it, going through some design changes, I decided that since I built a 800 square foot building and only have a 1/4 of that for a workshop that there is no way in hell I am putting freezers down there, it's my workshop and I am using the whole space.
My brother did build some sweet book shelves out of the pig shelter for my daughter though
I probably shouldn't have told her where the boards came from
Probably could and then just unplug them for the winter, my first thought is I would put one in my utility room and another one in my pantry, I need to upgrade the breakers for that though, I need to do that anyways, we put a gfi outlet on that circuit when we built the place and it keeps tripping now.
Well the holidays our over and I am getting bored, time to get the workshop done, I've just been puttering with it the last month.
One thing I want to do is use the workbenches as a support for my chopsaw, now I would hope that the slab is level and I could just build the benches and set them there but since I am going to be doing a bunch of different things in the workshop I want them 100 percent level so I decided to build in place.
I used the chopsaw to get my height.
We built some frames.
And mounted them level on the walls
I used a scrap piece of 2x4 to mimic the bench top and the chopsaw works perfectly with the height.
I laid down a base.
Used a scrap piece of 2x4 to level the front.
And cut up all my support pieces.
I screwed together some supports.
And spaced them out within the top and bottom frames.
These will frame out shelving underneath.
My brother and I grabbed some 2x12's we had from the chicken coop we demoed.
We ripped out all the nails and screws and tested the layout.
I made the benches big enough for 2 of them and a 2x6 to leave a little bit of a lip
Doesn't look half bad!
I turned on the heater in there for the night to melt the snow and hopefully dry them out some and I will screw them down in the morning. Thinking about sanding them but I kind of like the two tone.
