Safety wise I would go with a hammer then a forge press. When you are dealing with 3000-10000 psi it is much easier for a fault in construction to be deadly.

I would love a hammer but with my daughter right above and neighbors all around I think I would have a bunch of pissed off people, been doing some research on that second design, seems like an inexpensive safe option.
