Kvr are you worried about the shrinking/expanding of the cordwood at all? Our place has a lot of wood on the inside (T&G ceiling, T&G on the walls, hardwood floors, etc.) and I have seen a lot of contraction here in the winter. We heat only with wood and this was to be expected. Nothing is damaged but I wonder if some of the 'chinking' in the cordwood wall would be affected? I am sure this has been addressed before -- I am just ignorant. Thanks for sharing!

there usually is some shrinkage, they recommend using year old dried wood to minimize it, also to use a soft wood such as cedar to minimize expansion, with cedar being ideal

Sounds good. I am excited for this phase of the project. Let me know when you need my "Biolet" and I will box it up and send it to you. Since you have been so kind I may even clean it out for you!

well finally got a chance to walk the land with the woodcutter the other day, had some good news and bad news, good news is he is very selective in taking out only the large stuff and dead stuff so it gives the smaller stuff a chance to grow so he can come back in 8 years to harvest again, also he said he was paying 40 percent for logs which is a great price.

Bad part is he said he couldn't start cutting till June or July which is prime building time, but he said he would cut out the area we want to put the cabin, will be interesting to see how this works out
