So KVR, if the cutting was earlier would you be building the cabin this summer? You work fast!

I am assuming you have seen this cordwood building thread over at home-n-stead?

They built their home (can't find the post on it) but also built their barn the same way.

EDIT: Found the house. I think you will love this, KVR.

the goal was to get the cabin done this year, but I wanted to use any income from the woodcutting to pay for it. I have a source of peeled and dried cedar poles already, so it's just a matter of clearing out the spot and getting started

awesome link, I had seen a few pictures of their barn before, gonna search for the house

No worries. I can't believe they did the barn for ~$600. I have followed their family for a while -- it is great they have so many kids to help. I can only imagine how having a few extra hands around doing work shortens build time.

yeah, that's the great thing is the materials are so cheap, especially if use cob instead of a mortar base, so my wife says to me the other night, what ever happened to that fire tower cabin you were thinking of

cabin3.jpg

so it might not be as set in cordwood as I thought :(

well got some good news yesterday, the woodcutter hasn't started yet due to the amount of rain, he talked to code enforcement yesterday to make sure it wasn't in a conservation area because of the water, it's not, if it was we would be limited on how much wood we can cut off it
