so we went and picked up some more poles yesterday, the post hole digger was available from noon till 8 am this morning, so I decided to fence in the driveway to the barn

we started by installing one post down at the barn and running a string up the driveway

I got a 10 foot gate for the end of it and used that to figure out roughly where the last post would end up

we also put in a 6 foot gate down by the barn so we can get the 4 wheelers etc down through the back side

the gate pins were in the way on the bottoms, so we had to do a little metal work

all installed

today I'm going to wire fence it, run the electric fence along the bottom, this way the cows and pigs can utilize the driveway and keep the fence line clear of weeds, probably going to put a gate in our yard fence, so that way in the future we can let the animals in the yard at the end of harvest and they can clear everything out, I also reserved the digger for this weekend to do the back field, with this set up now, I can move the cows on the other side of the barn and I can tear out the existing t posts and cedar the whole thing, what we should end up with is 4 or 5 paddock areas that we can rotate the animals through

I love it when a plan comes together

Sounds good. You should buy stock in cedar fence and gate companies.

lol true, this is what I am thinking of doing, the yellow is gates, thank-you nsa/google for supplying an aerial view, but it is why we held off on starting the cabin this year, so I need 4 gates which is going to be 400 bucks and probably twice that in cedar and wire fencing, it's going to look awesome when it's done though

Sounds awesome. I wish I had the time/motivation/money to paddock off some areas for animals beyond just our chickens. Fencing gets expensive quickly.

to be honest, I wish we had gone with the steers years ago, so far they are very simple, very docile, stay away from the fence, and just chill in the barn all day, they stopped mooing finally, they are pretty awesome

so we started by finishing up the yard fence and tying the ends of the fence together

we ran it down to the corner and overlapped about 3 feet onto the old fence, so now the yard is secure

then we ran it down the driveway to the barn

I pounded in a grade stake behind the corner, since I can't attach it to the earthbag wall and finished off the fencing there

going to run the electric behind the wall from where it terminates on the other side of the barn and run it along the bottom of the fence today and see how the pigs do in it

Well, didn't get quite as much done as I had hoped the last day, had to work all day yesterday and wasn't able to get to the store till around 2 today, I picked up 50 rails and 27 poles

and two gates

then I spent the next 3 hours looking for the chickens, finally found them up on the roof

finally was able to start on the fence

and this was a huge pain in the rear, the auger kept binding on the grass, and the soil is very wet clay, we moved the fence several times to try and avoid the bad spots

I'm gonna run 2x4's from the old fence to the new fence and wrap the wire around the corner on the inside

we got 7 sections up before it got to dark, we went with a curve to wrap around our large pine and to miss the wet spots, once we clear the pine we will take it straight across, going to have to jam tomorrow
