image-11.jpgOften in my work as an equine podiatrist I am faced with the argument that horses cannot be ridden barefoot on rocky surfaces. This horse is a 12yo Kentucky mountain pleasure horse. She is ridden regularly. This picture is from two days after she carried her person 12 mi. on very Rocky terrain.

There was no "trimming" for me to do just a bit of touching up.

The beauty is that when in balance, the horses hoof can become almost self maintaining!

It is different each week. The most I do in a week is 40. Then the next week I take slower.

image-13.jpgI just had to share this one. Rainbow trout (caught by a friend) battered with cat tail pollen. Oyster mushrooms with elephant garlic. Cat tail spikes. "Volunteer" squash salad.

I'm sad

one of my old dogs died last night. It was expected but that doesn't make it easier.

On our last walk on Friday I had to carry him back for part of it.
