I read through this thread.  Did you get your property?  Where are you located?  I have 11 acres, just Southeast of Colorado Springs, with a great view of Pikes Peak, and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.  We bought one 5-1/2 acre lot for about $47K.  After our build we were pretty much tapped out.  Somebody purchased the lot South of us, and plotted a huge house.  Our passive solar view was going to be obstructed.  I went back to work, their deal fell through, and we purchased for $45K.

thats lucky. i hope to try and scoop up the property next to mine in the next few years.  I am in northern colorado, buying at the top of the current bubble. I hope it doesn't pop but merely slows in appreciation.

We had a contract in Drake, where we were going to build our pseudo-earthship attached, but it fell through, due some real estate snafus.  We lived in Fort Collins for 19 years, and raised our kids there, but we're enjoying the Springs.

Well, that was short lived...

After a few rounds of goats, installing some beautiful gardens and putting life back into the property my girlfriend decided she no longer wanted me there.

Buying this dream home and pursuing this dream lifestyle was fun while it lasted.

I will be back at some point for a bigger and better adventure. In the meantime I will still continue to learn.

I have moved out and bought another house. Still in the county but much closer to town. I have a little bit of space. I think animals besides chickens and maybe rabbits are out of the question.

I hope to put up an orchard and hopefully start a worm project soon.

yea, a little. But not any large projects. Just removing a few trees, fixing a well and putting up a privacy fence are on the to do list for now.

I hope it is everything you are looking for, how was the overall experience with the goats?
