Been off cable since we moved in Sept. Honestly say I don't miss it, yeah I am behind in some shows I liked (The Walking Dead). But it only took one month to cover the cost of a Roku, and everything else is gravy. If I had done this a year before, I could have 3 or 4 more guns by now.

whats chromecast?

Its kind of like a flash drive that you plug into the back of your TV, except that it has an HDMI port as well as a USB port for

power, which is plugged directly into the TV (if it has USB) or into an adapter so it can be plugged into the wall.

From there you can "Cast" media to it. What does that mean? Well...a few things.

When you buy the Chromecast there is a very easy set up to get it on your network at home. From there you would

also download the app for it (Android or iPhone).

Now open up say, Netflix. Begin playing a movie, select the Chromecast icon, and it will then ask if you want it sent

to the Chromecast. You say yes. It is now on your TV and not on your computer, phone, or tablet. Those devices can

then be used for anything else. They are not tied up or dedicated to the streaming of the video, the Chromecast takes over.

You can do this with Netflix, Youtube, purchases from the Play Store (movies, music, tv shows), and even browser tabs

from Chrome. It now supports Pandora and a few other things.

Another example. We went to the Google Play store and bought the current season of The Walking Dead from Google.

I think it was $25. On Sunday it airs and a few hours later, we now have it available on our Google account. I open up the

most recent episode, press play, press the Chromecast icon, tell it to send to my Chromecast, and boom there it is. Again,

I can still browse, make calls, or use my device.

Youtube has some good vids on it.

Its $35 and there are often good deals on it, bundled with other devices. Like if you bought a Nexus 7 you got a Chromecast

for free, etc...

All of your movies and shows with Google Play are stored in the cloud and you can access them anywhere. I can watch say,

Pacific Rim on my phone, tablet, or computer and if Im at home, I can send it to the Chromecast and watch it on my TV.

Does that help?

Also...Roku and Boxee arent all that great. If you really want to put some work into this, I can teach you how to do streaming m

media from better devices.
