I'm doing ok.  I started at the beginning of the month, so I'm pretty well into it.  I'm about 11lbs down.  But my "diet" isn't that strict.

I could NEVER do a carb free diet.  I tried once and made it til about lunch time.  lol.  I was ready to choke a kid for his french fries.  Carbs (especially deep fried ones) are my weakness.

I use Tap n Track for iphone. (I imagine they have it for other devices as well).  It's pretty nice, although there may be better ones out now (I've used this one off and on for years).  I'm a HUGE advocate for meal tracking.  No better way to know EXACTLY what you're doing unless your tracking it.  How can you make adjustments if you don't really know what you're doing??

No, but I literally eat the same stuff everyday so I don't see why I would need that. I've never used one though so I'm kind of ignorant on the subject. Care to clue me in to the benefits?

Ties in with their website, can setup your goals, gives you a daily caloric intake level to hit and you enter into the app what you are eating, can track progress, monitor caloric deficiency or excess, etc

More importantly, I think it forces you to be aware of your macro-nutrients.  You may be eating too much of something because you're unaware of the actual nutritional value.  In the past, I've been guilty of this.  Eating something or too much of something because I was misguided about the real nutritional value.  Also, if you need to make adjustments, it's a lot easier if you're keeping a log of what you're doing.
