It carries amazingly. All of my day hunt gear pretty much fits in one pocket, could definitely do a couple nights out of it without touching the internal compartment. When you open up that compartment its just plain huge! As in I have confidence I could fi a younger cow in there after its quartered and boned out. 2, maybe 3 trips for a big bastard. I loaded up 70 lbs of water jugs in it and was surprised how well it transferred the weight to my legs. I have owned several premium packs in mylife for backpacking and rescue, but this one blows them all away.

Hopefully I will be putting the "I can fit a whole cow elk in there" to the test thurs/fri.

I might go and try and shoot something during rifle season. We have lived out here for 2.5 years, owned the land since 2010, and I have never shot a deer.

Today was a bust. So tired..... Plan was to go out again tomorrow, but my legs are done for a day or two. Gonna split wood tomorrow. Will hit a different area on Monday.

Side note, on my hike out I found the remains of the deer I shot 6 days ago. Picked clean, it was pretty impressive to be honest. I think it would be interesting to put a trail cam near "the scene of the crime" someday.

Pack rode well all day, was nice to have the rifle on my back but easy to get to while I was hiking up and then when hiking out. That thing gets heavy!

Very cool, thanks for finding that!

When I take an animal, I always thank it for feeding me and my family and for teaching me something I didn't yet know. I also say to the animal that I will see them next time. By that I mean that I think about the circle and that this animal is now back in the hopper... it will feed not only myself, but that it will feed many others in the place where it lived and died. Maybe that food becomes a new tree, maybe it will be the fuel that a bear needs to get to IT'S next hunting grounds, maybe a little bit of that critter will be in the rain that falls.......

So going back to the site where I quartered her (something I have never done before) was an incredible and powerful experience for me. Within 6 days she was bones and shredded fur. There was very little of what I left, in a very short amount of time. What I pictured in my mind was very close to those pics.
