Here is a quick review of the Mora Light My Fire. One of our forum members had posted a link back in February for a sale on the Mora knife where it was $17.99 plus s/h. In the video I mention it was from woot.com but after checking my records it was actually from steepandcheap.com. Oopsies.

Product Description via Amazon.

The Mora Light My Fire Swedish FireKnife is the result of a collaboration between well-respected Swedish brands, Morakniv and Light My Fire. This is more than just an extremely sharp, flexible, and sturdy all-around knife; the handle contains a fire starter. In other words, you can gut and clean a fish, split kindling and light a campfire with one handy tool. The Swedish FireKnife has a 3.75-inch (95 mm) blade of hardened Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel with a three-quarter tang. Profile ground blade at the tip allows it to perform well with camp food preparations while the back of the knife has been specially ground to work perfectly with the included Swedish FireSteel fire starter. TPE rubber material on the handle provides a firm grip and the Swedish FireSteel 2.0 Scout fire starter securely twist-locks into the rear of the handle. The Swedish FireSteel is made from a durable magnesium alloy that produces a 3,000°C (5,400°F) spark, works well when wet, performs at all altitudes, and lasts approximately 3,000 strikes.

As you can see in the video it does not quite live up to the 3,000 strikes that the product description states. I would not want to depend my life on it but as the saying goes for preparedness; one is none, two is one. It is a great and simple addition as a backup plan. Stay safe in the woods!
