Well, the power company is going to be out tomorrow to do the switchover on our meter box, so we finished up most of the rough in yesterday
I went with a cutler hammer panel because it was the same one we had put in the house, not really happy with it though because after further inspection the quality has gone down hill significantly since 2009, or the supply company just started selling a cheaper version
So we put some back bracing on the wall
and screwed down the panel
We added the conduit connector and predrilled a hole
finished drilling it out
and glued the conduit body on
Fed the supply line through, we are using direct burial wire
and started mounting boxes and running wire, light switch
Media area for my daughter
three way switches for fans and lights
she will have another set by her bed so she doesn't have to get up to turn off her lights, she asked for a clapper, I said no
We are going to mount exterior spot lights on each end of the cabin
and recessed lights under the drive through, there will be an exterior switch so that I can light up the whole thing like yankee stadium, figured it wouldn't be a bad thing, especially during the winter
Ran the wiring for the workshop and added two dedicated lines on the back wall for freezers, with the boys going to slaughter in the spring that is going to be a crapload of meat and we need the storage.
Got everything hooked up into the panel
the only thing I need to add yet is a 240 line for hopefully a plasma cutter in the future and run the feed for a generator in case of future power loss.
I need to trench for the supply line today.
Hopefully we have power tomorrow and start insulating.
Well it down poured all week but was able to finish trenching and got power hooked up yesterday
Had to dig out the grounding rod at the pole, since it's a 200 amp entry we had to add another one and ground them together, the tractor worked well for pushing the new rod in
I decided to get the sub soiler
and started running back and forth, it helped break it up but there was still a lot of hand shoveling
my brother kept asking me, why am I down in the hole? Hey you wanted to move to Maine to be more self-sufficient, consider this a learning experience.
I had to work all day yesterday so Newsettler finished up the laying of the pipe
We hit some rocks at the pole so it is only 10 inches deep there so I need to bring in some fill to cover
All wired and ready to go
got the spot lights mounted
And hooked up the can lights
right now we just have a switch under the drive through that controls all the outside lights, but I am going to swap that out with a three way switch and put one up in my daughters space as well, the orange wire is generator feed if needed at a later time.
We also installed a 50 amp breaker in case I want to upgrade my welder or get a plasma cutter in the future.
Hooked up the exterior lights and tested them last night, the can lights under the drive through look awesome and will be a real help this winter, I'll take a pic of those tonight.
So today I got to finish backfilling and then go get some insulation, goal is to be done next Sunday
that is a concern, we will have to play that one by ear, I would like to keep them together till they are totally house broken but I know my daughter wants her with her.
When I say done, I mean as far as me being done, insulation, drywall, pine on ceilings and flooring down, from there on out it's my daughter.
oh yeah, did I mention my wife already has my next project lined up? She wants this wall to come down once my daughter is settled in her new space so we can expand our living room area and get a real living room set instead of futons that we have been on for the past 6 years, not sure how I feel about that.
