I had to remove the outlet for the machine, it needs to be moved closer to the far corner
I emptied the freezer and moved it to the opposite corner
the dust collector will sit right next to it, I need to pipe it in
I moved the heater again to the corner where the freezer used to be, I placed the compressor right below it
I went with the 2 ton hoist
what a pain in the butt this was, the directions suck!
But I got it together
and sits perfectly against the wall
now we wait
Today is moving day, little nervous but it should go alright, Roscoe and Newsettler are coming down this morning and we are going to move the old one out and set it in the parking lot until the other ones show up, plan of attack hopefully is that we can move the old one onto the truck first, remove the stands and set them into the workshop, bring the new lathe in second and leave the mill on the back of the tractor under the drive through till needed, I have to assemble the stands which will take a little time, will get the lathe situated and then bring the mill in, looks good on paper!
got the machines unloaded, noticed some slight damage on the mill so we documented it
and sent the 3 in 1 on it's way
these machines are a lot bigger and heavier so we did some fancy finagling
and backed it up into the workshop
got the stand together and used the engine hoist to place the machine
we pulled the mill in and unwrapped it, seems there was more damage, so I called smithy and they are sending a new bracket
my concerns about the height was correct, so we removed the wheels from the hoist to give more headroom
and were able to get the mill onto the stand
after we cut the ceiling out 🙁
Rewired the power supply for the machines.
We ended up moving the machine over a couple feet so that it did not interfere with the bore for the lathe, out came some more ceiling.
Spent the last couple days messing around with the mill, stupid y axis was tighter then heck
Some reason the gib was causing binding, so newsettler sanded it down.
it's now working perfectly
I am thinking of doing something different for a stand, for some reason the stock sheet metal one scares the heck out of me, did find this mod for it that I thought was interesting.

You guys don't waste any time! I love the ceiling notches. You can always add some bracing to the sheet metal one if you want. The only downside with the concrete one is what to do if you ever want to move it... though to be fair it will definitely change the natural frequency of the mill and you'll probably never hear any chattering.
