Lights were a huge plus for cordless tools...always working with poor lighting on a job...and eyes are getting older...how did I live without this...How did my dad build his first house in 1947 with only two hand drills, a couple of hammers, two hand saws...no power tools...wasn't a big place (24*32) but he did it...tougher back then and they used what they had.

A whole different world, would loved to see how my grandfather built his cement block house back then.

27 years ago I bought a makita 7amp cordless drill. Only thing I have ever done to it was buy new batteries. Remodeled 2 homes, built 4 decks, lots of projects with it. 12 years ago my wife wanted a new front porch. I needed to get more batteries and for a little more I was able to get a Dewalt 14amp package deal that I could not refuse. If Makita had same offer I would of gone with them. I have been very happy with Dewalt. Still break out the Makita when I'm feeling nostalgic. Had success with both brands. I have a buddy who swears by his craftsman set. My opinion they are all pretty much the same just depends on price point you can afford..

Dang, went and looked at the Li porter cable set yesterday and it is a 20 volt not an 18 volt, I don't think I can use that, time to check amazon for a replacement.
