OK guys. Serious question. The shed mover a) can't commit to a day or time (which is hard because all of my electrical utilities run in the shed and I work full-time) and b) they want to charge me to move each structure, even though they may be only 15 feet away, so I am looking at $300 to $400 instead of $150. I am thinking of buy a bunch of pieces of 3" PVC, some screw in rings, and giving this a yank with my truck (one it is up on the PVC rollers).

What do you think, am I crazy? Hold my beer and watch this? I just want it done this weekend. I've got stuff I need to get done and the shed guy was thinking it would be done sometime within the next 3 weeks.

You are blessed with cheap tractors and cheap material. $18 per yard of road gravel from Company A with delivery at $50 per load -- this would require 3 loads. So add on an extra $150. Company B has bank run at $18 a yard and $40 a load for delivery -- but he thinks he can get it in 2 loads. I am far away from any other site handling stone like this and I live off of a long dirt road so they can only take in smaller trucks. Remember, I am 30 miles away from most of the larger towns in any direction.

Here is the Ranger helping out with railroad ties I used to outline the parking pad. The railroad company leaves old ones out on the side of the road when they replace them. These are good enough for my needs.

holy crap that thing is loaded!

yeah, you don't want to see the mint case 644 I found on craigslist a couple weeks ago, kicking myself for not waiting a couple more weeks before buying, had the weight box on the back and everything

I say go for it, have any 8 inch trees you can cut down to roll on?

Not handy. Because the ground we are rolling it on is slightly uneven I was going to buy PVC that doesn't go the full 12ft width and only go so far to stop in the middle -- e.g. use 2 10 ft pieces to span the 12ft width. That way if one side of the barn needs to go up higher than the other it won't snap the PVC as fast. I do imagine that I will lose some pvc pieces to breakage, however.

what do you plan on doing with them when your done? would it be worth it to get a couple bags of cement and fill them with it? I would think you would be golden then.

Good call about what to use them for when I am done, but I think the cement would make them too brittle (they would crack when going over large bumps or dips) and too heavy (my buddies will be moving them from the back to the front as we roll over them).

Here are some pictures I have found of similar moves.

KVR, you are a genius. What about treated fence posts?

TSC has some ranging from $4 for tiny ones to $10 per for 5" round ones. My only concern is that the wood wouldn't be nearly as slick as the PVC so we wouldn't be able to move the barn as easy as we would need.
