We are going through the inspection process, which we did not go through when building. I had the septic inspector come out so we could get everything on the up and up and the whole area was flooding. Long story short -- just to make sure our septic system doesn't fail if it floods again we have to go with a raised sand mound system. I am looking at $8.5k right now. Money goes to this instead of the tractor/addition budget. In other news, my building permit process consisted of the guy looking around and saying I need a new smoke detector and to replace the sashes of one window with safety glass. Easy! Plumbing, mechanical, and electrical come up next. I don't want to do the electrical inspection until my barn is moved and solar equipment is relocated to the small shed.

200 yds?! Wow Pork, that's intense. How many gravel trains is that going to work out to be?

My excavator has to use his small truck. I think he was estimating ~45 trips. I wanted him to dig a pond for the sand (our ground is all sand after 6" of topsoil) but he wasn't having that.

And here is a picture of the parking pad waiting for stone. I can't believe the costs of getting material delivered. One place has lower prices on road gravel but will charge an extra $150 to deliver (!!!!) and my excavator doing the septic has decent prices on bank run but the delivery also adds up. I am shooting for ~25 yards to give me about 6" of fill.

looking good, I'm really surprised you get charged delivery, up here it's included with the yardage, what are you paying per yard? I think we were charged 14 per yard for gravel and 20 per yard for crushed stone

You are blessed with cheap tractors and cheap material. $18 per yard of road gravel from Company A with delivery at $50 per load -- this would require 3 loads. So add on an extra $150. Company B has bank run at $18 a yard and $40 a load for delivery -- but he thinks he can get it in 2 loads. I am far away from any other site handling stone like this and I live off of a long dirt road so they can only take in smaller trucks. Remember, I am 30 miles away from most of the larger towns in any direction.

Here is the Ranger helping out with railroad ties I used to outline the parking pad. The railroad company leaves old ones out on the side of the road when they replace them. These are good enough for my needs.
