I got the new solar shed stained. Unfortunately, because it is rough sawn, it soaked up my 1 gallon of stain pretty quick and I had to go pick up another gallon from a different store. Long story short... one side is much more red than the rest of the shed because "cedar" doesn't mean the same thing to different stain companies.

Here it is -- not in its permanent spot.

My excavator is coming today to pull all of the stumps out from the trees I cut down and roughly grade the parking pad. I tried to pull out the smallest pine with my truck and it didn't even budge. Next up is running electrical underground so it is all set for when we move the barn, outlining the parking pad with railroad ties, and getting stone dropped off and raked out.

So I picked up tons of supplies at Menards last night to run power out to the future move site for the barn. I will be hand trenching with one of these. I learned a new word yesterday -- these are called a "mattock". Who knew.

My excavator cleared out the stumps quickly with his TBL and gave the ground a rough grade. I still need to work it over with my drag to try and flatten it out some before laying down the weed fabric and railroad ties.

They love it up there -- treat it like a little house. We built a tiny table and my daughter sewed a table cloth and made a small rug. The dirt bike is seeing a lot of use these days as my son finally figured out how to ride it. He (5) and my oldest daughter (7) take turns tearing around the yard on it.

45 minutes to an hour. We have had some families coming over to hang out with their kids and it is getting beat on. I hope the batteries hold up for the rest of the summer.

So I didn't get much done last night but re-squared my corners, marked where I am going to trench the power, and laid down some railroad ties on the back corners. I am not too happy with how level the area is but I don't have the equipment to get it any flatter without a ton of manual work. I plan to dig out under the ties to help level them if needed. I will rake out the stone to make sure it is level even if the railroad ties vary somewhat.

And in other news, sand is getting dropped off for the septic mound system. Not sure if you can tell, but this is a lot of sand. My excavator estimated we would need 200 yards.
