No cedar. I could be wrong but I don't even know of any cedars growing around me. Pine, Oak, Maple, and Poplar are all I have ever seen in this general area. I may try to gather large field stones from farms near where I work -- but I estimated I would need ~150 8" stones. That's a lot of stone to haul.

We made it home! Surprisingly not too bad getting it home and off the trailer. No pics of the process but the trailer had ramps and I just put a piece of PVC under the shed and rolled it off of the trailer. Worked great. So the shed isn't at the spot I want it to be in the field but the plan is to move it to its permanent place on the same day as the barn move.

Specs on the shed: 6x8 on 3 treated 4x4 runners. This is going to hold my solar components and generator.

Pics of the shed before I picked it up:

And on the road:

So I picked up some stain this morning and will get the shed taken care of this weekend. I also plan to try and rip some stumps out tonight -- we will see how that goes.

I need to get materials for building the battery box and generator box in the new solar shed. I am thinking of lining everything with drywall due to the fire/spark resistance. Any feedback from you all?

Here is a link to some awesome battery box how-to's.

what about using cement board? I haven't used any in awhile, but that use to be pretty cheap, might be the right dimensions for you as well, they are 3x5

Good call. I didn't think of that.

thanks, just butt the corners and get a small tub of that pre made mortar and seal the corners, should be pretty darn fire proof

Yeah, I am trying to figure out exactly what I want to do. The shed will contain my solar equipment (which doesn't need to be fire protected), batteries (which will be in an insulated and vented battery box), and my generator (which I think I am going to use the cement board to line the box).

I see my biggest risk of fire being the generator -- so if I build a box for it, line it with cement board, and have a powered air intake and passive external exhaust vent -- then I should be all set.

Here is my layout again.

And here is plan to build the internal generator box like some of these pictures. I figure I will use some 3" hot water heater insulated vent pipe to pipe out the exhaust from the wooden structure and have some fans than come on whenever the generator is running. I just need to make sure this is well thought out because in the winter I run a generator for long periods of time -- I don't want any chance of fire destroying all of my solar equipment and only way to make power.

Although after seeing this guys pictures I'm not sure if I even need a box around the generator. Hmm.
