Back when I was "really" into BJJ, and could still afford a health club membership, I used to do intervals on the treadmill all the time. I was (and still am) a big proponent of using a heart rate monitor to focus your exercise to the right zone (cardio, weight loss, etc).
To answer an earlier question, I haven't really tried yoga. It doesn't really appeal to me. I even bought Stephen Kesting's Yoga for Grappling DVD, and never used it. For me, exercise for the sake of exercising (or health or weight loss) offers no appeal to me. I need exercise to be a means to a goal (becoming better at BJJ, some other sport, etc.) and weight loss/better health being a by product if that makes sense.
Went back to BJJ today. I'll have to see how I hold up over the next several weeks and hope I can handle it and my wife doesn't complain too much. Will get back on the diet wagon after Thanksgiving.
should try Bryan Kest Power Yoga, you can get for like 9 bucks on amazon, or they are on youtube
my first experience with yoga was when I did 2 cycles of p90x, it was the hardest workout of the whole series and I really enjoyed it, but it was just to long at almost 90 minutes, so I got these dvd's, they really help with flexibility and rolling

It's a lot more expensive, but I've heard good things about DDP Yoga (http://ddpyoga.com/workouts/).
Theres a good thread about it on the UG, but can't search back that far.
