Went to the kiln today and apparently the guys thought I was joking, wanting scrap burl to be kiln dried. The burl is nowhere to be found now. Needless to say some Spanish curse words were said and I think now we have a understanding.
If you like I could shape the piece pictured for you. Cut down on the scrap parts and give it some shape. Live half edge, bottom half would be squared.

Haha glad to hear you were able to use that part of your vocabulary. My favorite word from Chile - Weon, and that's on the lighter side.
If you have time to do that that would be great. I was thinking of something along the lines of what you posted or doing an angle iron base.
Depending on size it will either be an end table or a coffee table.

I'll take a picture of both sides of the slab and use ms paint ( lol ) to show what cuts I suggest.
If you like the cut or want something different you can let me know. Once that is decided I'll put it through the squaring band saw and profile.
Try to have a photo marked and posted up by Saturday.

Sounds awesome! Thanks again Hessian.
My brother in law is giving me a bandsaw that he just doesn't have room for so my shop is slowly evolving. I'll see if I can use it for this upcoming project.
Any recommendations on chop saws? I was planning to borrow his as we live close and there's no reason to spend $400 if I don't need to. His is a compound miter one with a slide so you can go up to 2x12 lumber. I believe the blade is slightly smaller so you can't go much above 4x lumber.

If you are going to drop the money on one, go big with all the extras. Long reach, bigger blade/motor to be able to do cross grain cuts, miter on real hardwoods. If there is one saw in a shop that should be the be it all saw ... chop saw is the one imo, especially if you do home renovations or things on the side. Since it is a daily use machine. Also one that can handle different materials. Build yourself a workable table for the chop saw, templates, a sliding drop bar etc, makes life so much easier and safer.

Having a band saw is a bonus for sure, so is a good heavy drill press for wood working.
My band saw cut will be around 1/8 th 1/16 over size. Something that you can clean up on a upright sander really easy. Or you can go medieval on it if you have a grinder but no drum or up right.
How wide is your planer?
