electric fences are a rite of passage
If you build the central area out of something durable and just use electric on the grazing area, the kids can still get in there to play with them, I know groin uses electric with his chickens and hasn't had any issues with the kids I believe. Actually the kids enjoy watching him get shocked from what he says.
