Good find. No prices, however. I was looking at goats just because they are smaller and cheaper but the whole fencing, destruction, and the fact that they wouldn't necessarily eat my pasture grass still turn me back to cows.

You are the cattle whisperer. It is tempting but since we have never had large livestock I am worried we would drown. We don't have a fence, a female for it to breed with, etc. Then calving, a shelter, etc. -- we don't have the money for that nor the time. It is very tempting, though.

I would raise him as a steer for beef, I would also get a pig and raise them together, they will keep each other company and the pig will be more than happy to take care of droppings from the cow.

I think this is the route we are going to take next year.

Wouldn't you need a really strong fence for that?

just along the bottom with a strand of electric to keep the pig from rooting under, pigs and cows are very social animals, once they get attached and imprinted on one another, you won't see one very far from the other
